“The home is the center and circumference, the start, and the finish, of most of our lives.” – Charlotte Perkins Gilman

Inspired at a young age by her grandfather, a civil engineer and tinkerer, Marika learned that the built environment could be shaped by both pragmatism and imagination. Through that lens, buildings became more than mere structures, they became opportunities to form a connection to place and time. It’s no coincidence that Marika found herself drawn to 3North, where the ethos aligns so closely with her own philosophy—that each project serves a dual role: answering to the present while honoring the past. To her, great design isn’t merely about aesthetics; it evokes joy, cultivates imagination, and establishes a resonance with its surroundings. Outside the studio, you’ll find her hiking Virginia’s trails, wandering the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, or working on home improvement projects of her own historic home.

Marika is currently a licensed Architect and a member of the AIA, and a LEED BD+C Accredited Professional. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and earned her Master of Architecture II from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
