Built on the beach in 1972 by a family whose legacy is defined by the sea, the Port Royal’s maritime connections informed the renovation design of guest rooms, public spaces and pool. Classic primary colors, bold graphics, port-like motifs, and traditional mid-20th century furnishings merge the hotel’s authentic mid-century modernism with an old-school passion for all things nautical.
Renovation of Wildwood’s Port Royal Hotel extended new nautical interiors out to the oceanfront pool. Tall ship masts festooned with Navy signal flags bring a fun de-coder game, which originates inside, onto the deck. Improved seating — a wooden slat bench encircling the whirlpool, a sail canvas pergola hovering above dining tables, and white duck umbrellas — create a wholesome, seafaring ambiance.
