This new Colonial-inspired home in Williamsburg, VA was conceived with a reinterpreted approach to classic period details. The façade features distinct sections of brick and clapboard to give the impression of a smaller house that has been added to over generations. Windows were deliberately scaled up to create a three-bay layout over a five-bay footprint, which mimics the proportions of authentic Colonial-era houses. Nails with rough heads, matching the colonists’ hand-forged versions, fasten the custom-milled cypress siding. At the side entrance, the updated Chippendale railing offers a hint at the design shift inside.
