The Domaine Anderson Winery was established in 2010 as the still wine estate of France’s Louis Roederer Champagne. It was founded on property formerly occupied by another winemaker and includes buildings designed for the prior owner by renowned winery architect Howard Backen. It soon became apparent to the new owners that existing laboratory space should be converted to a tasting room to accommodate the increasing number of visitors to the Anderson Valley. The owners engaged Patricia Roberts of PDR Design and 3North’s San Francisco studio to execute this transformation. Patricia crafted a design vision that celebrates the natural materials and character of the region and features work by local artisans while 3North navigated the practical challenges of reconfiguring the spaces into their new hospitality-focused use.
