Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, which evolved from historic Bloemendaal Farm, has grown to become a popular destination for tourists, families, and school groups. The Garden offers educational programs, and hosts social and corporate events. With a mission to promote the best in horticulture and landscape design, provide classes and lectures, and become a leader in botanical and applied horticultural research, LGBG has experienced phenomenal growth in the thirty years since its founding in 1984. Current and projected visitation, as well as added program offerings, created the need for a master plan to address future expansion over the next twenty-fie years. 3north was hired to work closely with the garden staff and the Board of Directors through a series of planning workshops and design sessions to create a schematic master plan. The plan comprehensively addresses the Garden’s history, mission, identity, functional needs, program requirements, and relationship to the greater community. Key garden enhancements and additions are identified and the creation of landscaped areas to serve gatherings related to outdoor instruction, concerts, and social gatherings is addressed.
